Nasal Surgery

Rhinoplasty is the medical term for reshaping the nose (a.k.a. "Nose Job"). The nose is the most defining characteristic of the face and even subtle alterations can greatly improve one's appearance. Surgical techniques have significantly evolved in recent years in order to avoid complications seen with earlier techniques. No longer is the emphasis on simply removing bone and cartilage, it now focuses on precisely reshaping and repositioning these structures to provide a better appearing and functioning nose. Dr. Barr has years of experience in surgical correction of both the inside and outside of the nose. Dr. Barr always tailors the procedure to the individual creating a natural rhinoplasty result, one that is aesthetically balanced to the face.

During rhinoplasty consultation, Dr. Barr will use the computer to illustrate changes to the tip and profile of the nose. Computer simulations of the rhinoplasty surgery during the consultation process serve to show what is and is not possible with the rhinoplasty procedure. These images may also give you an idea of how you will look after the surgery.

Rhinoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis. The incisions are made in such a way that any resulting scars are imperceptible. Most patients tolerate the procedure well with minimal discomfort and need for pain medication. Upon removal of the splint the nose is slightly swollen but better appearing than before the procedure. Over the course of several months to a year the appearance of the nose will continue to improve as the last bit of swelling resolves.
